Retrofitting your lighting system can make dollars and sense!
Here are just a few of the reasons, besides the monthly energy savings also associated, that it makes sense to consider updating your current lighting system:
To give you a better idea of the savings we mean, here are two examples of retrofitting projects Elm has either completed or is in the process of completing:
Company X has a manufacturing facility that is 62,400 square feet, and contained 168 fixtures. Elm replaced the old fixtures and installed motion sensors and the estimated energy savings for this customer is $21,301.71/year. In addition, this company qualified for the Federal Government’s tax incentive, under the 2005 Energy Policy Act, and received a $.60/ square foot tax incentive, which totaled $37,440. Total costs for the upgrades to Company X were $56,927.50, and between the estimated monthly savings in electricity and federal tax incentive will be paid back in one year.
Company Y has a manufacturing facility of 200,000 square feet, and contains 1009 fi xtures. With Elm ‘s proposed upgrades, the Kilowatt usage will go from 610,428 annually to 370,131.84 annually, saving them $28,835.54 per year in electricity costs.
In addition, Company Y will qualify for the Federal Government’s tax incentive under the 2005 Energy Policy Act, and, like Company X, will receive a $.60/square foot tax incentive totaling $120,000. Total costs associated with the upgrades being made will be $242,342, which means the investment will be completely paid off in 4.25 years, and will enjoy better lighting quality and fewer maintenance costs in the meantime.
