Elm East: Wastewater projects continue to grow up and down the 495 corridor

By Ben Haynes

We have all heard the expression, “it flows downhill,” but sometimes it needs a boost or a pump to get to that point. Wastewater out East continues to grow as we have been awarded several projects up and down the 495 corridor addressing the aging infrastructure and helping to make sure that “it” is flowing in the right direction at all times. As always, Elm continues to serve its core customers out East on day to day needs as well as large scale projects. Below is a brief update on some of those:

Ken’s Phase 2 Warehouse Addition

Phase 1 of the phase 2 addition (say that 10 times) was completed in early summer and Ken’s was able to take over this space and start utilizing the expanded dock capabilities at the Marlborough facility. With that phase complete the next addition work started immediately and work has been under way to expand the cooler capabilities of the facility and is slated for a spring time completion. Josh Palmer has been the lead electrician on this and has done a great job on the installation and communication with the customer.

Littleton WWRF Effluent Recharge – Littleton, MA

Work has steadily progressed on site under the direction of Bobby Bourdeau and in collaboration with Tim Rzeszutek and his pre-fabrication expertise. Tim was able to coordinate and model this project in all of his free time – which we all know he has way too much of! Below are some photos of some of the prefabricated stands that were installed out in the tank area as well as the underground for the building’s electrical room. Imagine stick building that out in the field?

Lake Ave Pump Station – Worcester, MA

A quick google search will show you that this facility has a couple issues:

Elm was the successful bidder on this project and will be working with RH White to bring this pump station back to a functioning facility and limiting articles like you see above. The project consists of the replacement of existing pumps with larger submersible type units and upgraded VFD’s. The public bid market is very competitive and bid results like the ones below show how every dollar counts when it comes to securing work for our electricians.

As always – thanks for all that you do!
