Employee Spotlight: Andy Welch
In this month’s employee spotlight, we caught up with Andy Welch at Piper Electric.
Q: How long have you been working at Piper Electric?
A: I’m coming up on five years at Piper.
Q: What brought you to Piper/how did you get your start here?
A: I actually worked with a current Piper employee at a different company, previously. He’s enjoyed Piper and recommended that I apply. Hard to believe that was almost five years ago already.
Q: Can you tell us a little about your role at Piper?
A: In my role at Piper, I work as a service electrician doing anything from residential to industrial emergency calls.
Q: What are some of the things you enjoy most about working at Piper?
A: What I really enjoy about working at Piper — aside from the environment we have here — is he diversity that comes with the work we do in factories. There are new and different challenges, so it’s never dull.
Q: What has been one of your most rewarding experiences at Piper?
A: I wouldn’t say it’s one specific experience, but just the overall ability to be versatile with range of work we do on a day-to-day basis.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not working?
A: In my spare time I really enjoy being outside with my three dogs, sitting by a fire, or riding four-wheelers in the woods.
Q: Do you have a particular hobby or talent that co-workers may not know about?
A: I do, actually. I can play the piano, guitar, bass, saxophone and drums.
