That’s a wrap for the 2024 Hands on Safety Day + a few reminders from the Safety Department
Hands on Safety Day
The second year of the Hands on Safety Day concluded on Monday, November 11! Management and The Safety Department would like to thank everyone who participated in the training day, as well as a huge shout out to our trainers John Bridgman, Jason Buden, Rich Diaz and Travis Rogers for taking the time out of their busy schedules to make this all happen. In 2025, The Safety Department will be hosting the Hands on Safety Day for all Engineering, Panel Shop, Piper and One Development employees. Stay tuned for more updates as we head into the New Year!
Accident/Incident/Near Miss Reporting
The Safety Department and Management would like to remind all employees the importance of reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses as soon as they happen. No matter how slight the situation may be, you should always notify your manager and the Safety Department of the situation. The Safety Department will use this information to track trends, identify root causes, and then use the hierarchy of controls to eliminate the hazards in hopes to prevent the same occurrence in the future. It’s your job as an employee to report it, and it’s the Safety Department’s job to address it.
Hazard Assessments
The Hazard Assessment is a tool that is used by the company to identify and eliminate hazards BEFORE you begin the work. The Safety Department and management would like to remind everyone that the Hazard Assessment is to be completed per day, per job (multiple HA submissions if you work on multiple jobs in a single shift) and is to be reviewed by ALL employees on site, prior to work. The Hazard Assessment should be a summarization of the conversation you should be having before work starts. If you run into any issues with the Hazard Assessment documents, please reach out to someone from the Safety Department for assistance.
