Computer Systems Assistant

Elm Electrical, Inc. is seeking an energetic, career-oriented professional to fill an exciting opportunity as a Computer Systems Assistant at our office located in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The Computer Systems Assistant ensures the stable operation of the company network and all connected PCs and peripherals, including planning, installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting all network hardware, software and communication links.  This person will also be responsible for analyzing and resolving end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provides end user training where required.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot desktop/laptop hardware, printers, scanners, copiers and mobile devices
  • Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory
  • Create mailboxes in Exchange
  • Create and manage system documentation
  • Recommend hardware and software purchases
  • Purchase laptops, desktops, cell phones, and other mobile devices
  • Assist local and remote users with technical issues
  • Provide assistance with company phone system as needed
  • Assist in evaluating, testing, documenting, and deploying new user-base technology
  • Work, coordinate, document, resolve, and close help desk trouble tickets
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
  • Two or more years of systems administration experience
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license and sole access to reliable transportation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (Windows 7 and newer)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites 2016 and newer (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of network protocols (i.e. DNS, DHCP, and TCPIP)
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of network hardware such as switches, firewalls, wireless access points, etc.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a strong ability to:
    • Install and configure a computer system with Windows current operating system;
    • Perform virus scans and remediate the removal of virus or any type of malware/adware;
    • Work independently to identify and troubleshoot technical issues;
    • Work with and communicate with people of different technical levels in a friendly and effective manner; in person, on the phone and in writing; and
    • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment

Physical Demands:

The Computer Systems Assistant must be able to:

  • View a computer screen for extended periods of time

Journeyman Electrician with DC Cable Experience

We are currently seeking a Journeyman with DC Cable installation experience who will be a solid contributor to our team.

Job requirements include:

  • Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installs electrical conduit and associated wiring
  • Experience working in Data Center head ends
  • Connecting wiring to fixtures and power equipment
  • Connecting power cables to equipment, such as motors, distribution equipment, and equipment
  • Installing electrical systems per the current version of the National and Massachusetts Electrical Code
  • Following all safe practices for installations as required by OSHA and NFPA

Industrial Control Panel Builder

We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Control Panel Builder to assemble and wire electrical panels and equipment who will be a solid contributor to our team.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to:

  • Assemble and fabricate industrial control panels and electrical control boxes/enclosures
  • Read and interpret electrical and/or mechanical schematics
  • Complete and maintain written project documentation
  • Follow both written and verbal instruction
  • Perform operational testing from written procedures and specifications
  • Complete light fabrication and lift up to 75 pounds
  • Utilize and interpret wiring diagrams and recognize components
  • Proficiently operate a variety of hand and power tools including, but not limited to, a soldering iron, jigsaw, K/O punch, and electrical multimeter
  • Stand for an extended period of time
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test

Applicants must possess a mechanical aptitude and familiarity with NFPA70 , NFPA79, and UL508A. Power and control wiring aptitude is a must, as is the ability to perform clean and precise work. At least 3+ years’ recent experience as an electrical panel builder is preferred, and an electrical background is definitely a plus. A driver’s license and a high school diploma/GED is required.

Safety Manager

General Responsibilities:

The Safety Manager’s primary focus will be to oversee the safety culture through managing the development, execution, and viability of company safety programs for a well-established electrical contractor based in Western-Mass. This position will provide leadership, support, and direction, ensuring compliance with company, federal, and state regulations, and work collaboratively with other internal departments and outside organizations.

Duties:

  • Support, promote, and maintain the strong company safety culture that has been established.
  • Lead the safety team in partnership with operations and human resources to engage employees in a core competency of safe behaviors and work practices.
  • Foster an environment of continual innovation and improvement by driving processes and compliance forward.
  • Assist project managers and supervisors with work planning and development of job hazard analysis and safe-work procedures, and then travel to the job sites to ensure implementation of company safety practices by completing inspection reports and, subsequently, analyzing and reporting back to operations on these findings.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and analyze near-misses, performing root-cause analysis to determine next steps to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Partner with operations managers and supervisors to create, coordinate, and facilitate internal trainings including company safety trainings; monthly department meetings; new-hire safety orientations; general safety awareness trainings; and safety specific trainings such as LOTO, respirator, confined space, NFPA70-E, ladders.
  • Administer and maintain the company’s Haz-Com program.
  • Serve as a liaison between government inspectors, and local and federal agencies to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain existing safety training manual and practices to remain current with OSHA/MSHA and ANSI standards.
  • Conduct safety program audits and work with the safety committee to update programs, as necessary.
  • Maintain the safety division budget and work with the purchasing department on safety equipment purchases.
  • Perform additional assignments, as required by company needs.

Qualifications:

  • Safety and Health Specialist (SHS) for construction certification
  • A minimum of 5 years’ construction-related safety experience preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Supervisory skills demonstrating an ability to lead and support
  • Knowledge of construction safety and health regulations, including OSHA construction and DOT
  • OSAH30 for construction certified
  • Good computer skills with a proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Ability to adjust work hours, when required

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time position requiring travel to job sites.
